Tuckerville, Wyoming

There is only one road in

and one road out, no more,

two churches; one Catholic,

one Protestant, and three

bars; two on one side of the

street, and one on the other.

There is gas station that is also

the grocery store, and the

clothing store, and the Post Office,

and you can get your smokes there,

but it’s not the hardware store,

that is found in the feed store.

You’ll find there is nothing

else accept a few old homes

and one big mansion on the hill.

It’s vacant, been vacant for years.

Supposedly, it belonged to the

wife of a big area cattle rancher.

She didn’t like living so far out

so he built her the mansion in town.

Two stories are told as to why

the mansion sets empty today.

One says the rancher came to

town one day, caught his wife with a

young cowhand, killed ‘em both

and buried ‘em in the basement.

No one has lived in the house since.

The second story, not as colorful, says

she ran off with a traveling salesman.

Those who believe the first

say the house is haunted.

You can hear the moans and

cries of the lovers shoot dead.

Believers of the second story

say the believers of the first

are just gullible idiots, hearing

the wind blow, telling crazy stories.

One side don’t care much for the other.

So, unless you live around these parts

you will want to take the road in

and keep moving right on through.

If the ghosts don’t scare you off

the locals damn sure will.
